The Run
Director: Stefan Najib
“The Run” tells the story of Martin who, as much as he likes to think of himself as a good high school teacher, can´t get his own son to obey him. On the way to school, the two of them get into a fierce argument. Shortly afterwards, a student at the school opens fire and goes on a killing spree. Martin manages to stop the perpetrator in the corridor by offering to drive an escape vehicle. Together they evade the police. In the confines of the vehicle, the teacher and the perpetrator find themselves locked in a psychological power struggle, which neither of them are made for.
For this project, East End worked closely with the Winnenden Rampage Alliance (“Aktionsbündnis Amoklauf Winnenden”), made up of the survivors of that attack. Its declared mission is to raise awareness of gun rampages and violence in schools. The goal of the film is to provoke thought and reaction for wider discussion and public debate.
